The biggest ad event of the year in the French market is back
December 14, 2022, Montreal
New Year's Eve is the biggest night in Québec television, culminating in the annual ratings juggernaut, The Bye bye, which attracted 3,773,000 viewers in 2021, including 1,472,000 adults 25-54.* Continuing a now-entrenched holiday tradition, the Bye bye de la pub competition is back for a fifth year. The 2022 edition has generated unprecedented interest among CBC & Radio-Canada Media Solutions' business partners, with 24 participants for the 2022 broadcast, up from 18 in 2021.
The record number of advertisers in contention will set the creative bar high as they vie to produce the most memorable original commercial that will debut New Year's Eve on ICI TÉLÉ. Audiences can vote for their favourite ad from January 1 to 8, 2023, on the Radio-Canada website at Radio-Canada.ca/concours-byebye-pub-2022.
“When we first launched this competition, we never could have anticipated such an incredible response from the industry,” said Patricia Châteauneuf, Executive Director of Multiplatform Sales, Montreal and Eastern Canada with CBC & Radio-Canada Media Solutions. “The advertising extravaganza is now in its fifth year and going strong. Media agencies and advertisers jumped at the chance to participate — so much so that all our inventory was sold out by the summer rather than the fall, as in previous years.”
The Bye bye de la pub is the only advertising competition judged by the general public. Canadian residents who vote in the competition have the chance to win a $500 gift card to a local business of their choice. The winning advertisers will receive up to $75,000 in media visibility.
