Annie Desrochers
In 1970, Quebec Premier Robert Bourassa tasked his special advisor, Paul Desrochers, with implementing the James Bay hydropower development. Forty years later, Desrochers’ granddaughter Annie Desrochers, who hosts the Montreal-area weekday radio program Le 15-18, sets out to understand how the megaproject benefited Quebec and what the legacy of James Bay means today. She heads north on the road to Radisson with her sons, on a quest in which the history of modern Quebec blends into that of her own family. In the process she explores the things handed down to us and those we pass on, both individually and as a society.
